This mosaic is an experiment, using strips of cut up encaustic wax paintings, which are no longer might be not a brilliant result, but I wanted to share it as an idea.

This picture is an encaustic collage, where the flower heads are painted seperat with wax and then put onto an encaustic prepared back ground. Stems and leaves are added with an iron and details are drawn with a stylus.

Hi Gundula, thank you for your comment. It is true that not many people in the UK know about encaustic painting, most people I meet (including artists) have never heard of the medium so I'm on a quest to educate them!

Hi Gundula,
yes I like your work very much and it is wonderful to have you as a friend. I hope, I will see a lot more of your encaustic creations.
Kind regards

Dear Gundula

You asked me about my painting Kea if it is done with water colors.

So i have to inform you about wax that there were 3 ways of ancausting paintning according to ancient historical Pliny.

I will not bother you more.

Well this painting was done with melted wax (something i tryied for years to find the ancient formula) and pawdere colors and water. As we do icons if you know about with egg, only i use wax.

... I like your brisk beginnings with the molten medium of encaustic Gundula. You show willingness to 'dive in' and to express from your opening depths. I always respect that attitude toward artistic being.

Be well and dream well,

'Advent Fair'

I attended an Advent Fair and had a little Encaustic stall, displaying pictures and greeting cards.

I  enjoyed the event and was surprised, how many people wanted to here about the 'Encaustic's' and want to take it up again, having seen what one can do with wax. I am pleased to say, I have sold some pictures and cards and the 'Mosaic' and the 'Autumn' will hang now in some one else's home.

Here is my question: Why do pictures appear on the Welcome/Activity page again when I save them in my albums. Please could someone tell me why?.
