When something is embedded in the wax it could probably be contained in the wax. For instance if you laid on some wax then put a photo or feather on top, then added more wax over that to cover it and contain it in the depth of the wax - that would be embedded. It is something contained or stuck into the wax - held there. Properly it would be covered by wax. Or that is my understanding, but perhaps there is more to be added??

Thank you Michael.

Its as simple as its literal meaning then.Thought it was some super duper

LOL about it being some super duper technique.  I always refer to it in my own brain as fossilizing or encapsulating.  That was actually one of the first things that I liked about encaustic was that ability to "embed" found objects etc. into the piece. I'm a mega nerd who loves to go out fossil hunting in my spare time, I used to want to be an archaeologist when I was a kid, and when I'm in the woods or on the beach I am always scouring the ground for anything that looks old or interesting.  I've got a fantastic old statue of a man with a violin that I found at the site of an old burned out house on some property that we rented when I first got married.  I want to use it in a piece at some point, but am not sure yet how I'm going to do it, so for now, he still just travels with me.......
